HELSINKI FLOWER STUDIO (HFS) IS AN ONLINE FLORAL SERVICE PLATFORM AND A SUB-BRAND OF MU FILOSOFIA, A CREATIVE SPACE FOR NEW EXPERIENCE OF FLOWER & TEA.

PHILOSOPHY OF HFS

HONOUR HISTORY & TRADITIONS

The foundation of our floral works lay on the history of floristry in both west and east. Little was discussed about the significance of flowers and plants in the history of art and domestic life. We honour floral works and traditions from the past, meanwhile exploring new ways of seeing flowers with our contemporary eyes.

PUSH BOUNDARIES WITH PASSION

WE HAVE A DISTINCT APPROACH TO FLOWER ARRANGING. WE GIVE VOICE FOR CREATIVITY AND INTUITION, WHILE ALIGNING WITH THE DISCIPLINES OF OUR PROFESSION. WE BRING IN ARTISTIC VALUE TO OUR DESIGNS, WHILE TRYING OUR BEST TO MEET THE NEEDS OF OUR CUSTOMERS. IT IS OUR PLEASURE TO BRING REFRESHING SELECTIONS OF FLOWERS TO YOU.

RESPECT FOR NATURE

  • One important purpose for working with flowers is to celebrate and appreciate nature. As a business, we care about the traces we left on earth, and we aim for reduced carbon footprint and plastic waste. We use only paper and biodegradable bags in all the product packaging. We do not use floral foam that is single use plastic. The delivery company we partner with has zero carbon footprint.
  • WE HIGHLY SUPPORT LOCAL FLOWER FARMS, AND WE SELECT FLOWERS FROM LOCAL SUPPLIERS WHENEVER POSSIBLE.
  • WE SPEAK FOR A SIMPLER LIFESTYLE; WE OFFER SIMPLE BUT UNIQUE DESIGNS FOR CUSTOMERS TO GET A MUCH LIGHTER, MORE NATURAL AND SPECIAL RESULT.

OUR VALUEs

OPENNESS & SINCERITY, PASSION & CREATIVITY ARE AT THE VERY CENTER OF OUR HEARTS.

WE ARE CONSTANTLY STRIVING FOR MORE SUSTAINABLE FLORISTRY.

STORY OF MARI & RU

A more sustainable way of working in floristry is something Mari and Ru are both seeking, and that’s what brings them together. A year after meeting each other for the first time, they decided to create a platform for shared values and inspiration.

Mari

Mari started her path to the enchanting world of flowers and plants in her thirties, having worked 10 prior years with fashion. After finishing her Gardening studies she has been continuing to the field of Floristry. In 2019 she went interning in a flower school in Tokyo. In her spare time she took ikebana lessons with the oldest school called Ikenobo. Just before 2020 she set out to be an entrepreneur under the name Taiga to Tropics. Mari finds working with plants soothing and inspiring. She is dreaming of her own small garden where to enjoy the seasons change.

ru

RU WAS FASCINATED BY THE SYMBOLISMS AND MEANING OF FLOWERS AND PLANTS WHILE STUDYING THE HISTORY OF ART AND ARCHITECTURE IN HER B.A. AS SHE CONTINUES HER ACADEMIC EXPLORATION IN THE ARTS, THE FASCINATION LEADS HER TO A MASTER THESIS RESEARCH ON THE HISTORY OF BONSAI AND IKEBANA, DURING WHEN SHE STARTED WORKING CONSTANTLY WITH FLOWERS AND PLANTS. AFTER FINISHING HER M.A. DEGREE IN 2018, SHE DECIDED TO CONTINUE WORKING WITH FLOWERS INSTEAD OF ADVANCING IN ACADEMICS, LONGING FOR FREE EXPRESSION. IN 2019, SHE FOUNDed MU FILOSOFIA, A CREATIVE SPACE DEDICATED TO FLOWERS AND TEA. HER FLORISTRY SKILLS ARE TRAINED IN LONDON FLOWER SCHOOL.
