Join us for this two-session course where you’ll first sculpt a vase and then create a flower bouquet to complement it!

In the first session, you’ll handcraft a ceramic vase, which will later be fired and glazed by the staff. In the second session, you’ll learn how to arrange the perfect bouquet tailored to your vase.

The first part of the course takes place on Saturday 17.5 at the Raaka Rå ceramics store in Punavuori, and the second part on Thursday (Ascention Day) 29.5 at Helsinki Flower Studio in Hakaniemi. This course is also perfect for beginners. Your instructors will be Leena Kouhia and Mari Saarelainen. The course will take place if there are enough participants, and full refunds will be issued if it is canceled.

Dried flowers are fascinating. Their beauty freezes in time and their form transforms into unique sculptures. The idea of drying flowers and using them has a long history and it is a good way to learn about nature.
During the workshop, we will discuss about dry flowers and guide everyone to make a dry flower bouquet with flowers that we dry ourselves at Mu. The ticket includes everything that’s needed for making a bouquet.

Kokedama (苔玉), or “moss ball”, is a garden plant ornament originated from Japan. By making a kokedama we are able to create a natural growing environment for many plants. In addition the process of making kokedamas is relaxing and calming.
During the workshop, we will guide everyone to make two kokedamas with suitable plants. The ticket includes everything that’s needed for making the two kokedamas. (If you want to bring your own plant and make it into a kokedama, you can pay an extra 5 euros for the moss at the workshop.)

Let’s get into the creative and meditative pre-Christmas tradition of wreath making! This is an easy-going and fun session to get together with friends and create something beautiful with your own hands. We will guide everyone and teach how to use evergreens and natural decorative materials (fresh and dried flowers and fruits) on the wreath.

This workshop is particularly inspired by Japanese aesthetics and ikebana practice.

The word “Ikebana” is usually translated as “flower arrangement”,but a more accurate interpretation would be “living plant material” arrangement. It is the art of arranging more than flowers. A few of the main differences can be quickly noted about ikebana approach to flowers, one might need a different way of thinking about flowers and about arranging them. The full-blown flower, the half-open bud and the tight bud used in ikebana symbolise past, present and future. Here, the significance of the whole flower cycle is emphasised. What you see in a single flower or a branch used, can epitomise the eternal processes of the universe.

In this workshop, we will briefly explore and learn the different schools of ikebana, their styles and principles. The outcome of this workshop does not follow strictly on any ikebana schools. It is a chance to learn and foster your imagination and creativity within while working with seasonal flowers.

The workshop is in English and Finnish.

Join us for a colorful spring kranssi workshop!

During the workshop, we will be using self-dried flowers and fresh beautifully drying greeneries to create a springy wreath. 

It is an easy-going session that starts with us showing how to bind all the materials together on the wreath, and continues with free time for everyone to make their own.
